ALOR SETAR, 14 Aug: Everyone has been asked to not exaggerate the move by the PKR President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, for eating on the commuter train to Ipoh on August 12.
Wan Azizah said that the ETS which she was supposed to take to Ipoh from KL Sentral experienced a technical problem and had to be changed to the ordinary coach.
She also received permission from the Malayan Railway Berhad (KTMB) to eat in the coach.
“Originally, we were supposed to take the ETS but the coach was broken down, so it was changed to a normal one.
“I just ate a packet of Nasi Lemak and cleaned up after that/ In fact, I received permission from the management of KTMB at the time,” she said.
She said this when attending the President’s Trust Tour at TH Hotel & Convention Centre yesterday.
The move was defended by the PKR Vice President, Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin, who said that eating in the ETS is not a big issue as it is allowed.
“Do not exaggerate this. Eating in a train has become an issue, but taking bribes is not an issue,” he said.
Prior to this, Wan Azizah, who is also the Opposition Leader, uploaded a photo of her eating on the commuter during her trip to Ipoh.
This resulted in her picture being trolled and it went viral and was criticised by netizens.
