SHAH ALAM, 6 May: Umno President, Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been urged to step down as the Selangor BN Chairman, after the people rejected BN in the 13th General Election (GE-13) yesterday.

The Chairman of the Election Commission (EC), Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof who was found to have failed in conducting a transparent, fair, clean and responsible election, has been suggested to do the same.

“Clearly Pakatan Rakyat (PR) received the popular vote and votes from all ethnicities and this is in contrast to Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s claim that we only received support from the Chinese community.

“The performance of the EC was very disappointing with the failure of the indelible ink from functioning as promised, the presence of phantom and dubious voters.

“(Also) ballot boxes that appeared suddenly and delayed the results,” said the Selangor PR Chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Abdul Khalid also expressed Pakatan’s confidence in obtaining a greater victory, including at the federal level, if the election was carried out cleanly and fairly.

Meanwhile, the Shah Alam MP, Khalid bin Abdul Samad, commented on the issue of whether the EC is a traitor to the people when they acted unfairly and behaved like BN agents.

“They have betrayed the trust of the people as they are supposed to be an independent body, impartial. But clearly, they acted as BN agents to a point that even the announcements were made following BN’s interest to create anxiety on the basis of race,” said Khalid.

As a sign of protest, Khalid and PR leaders at the press conference also ‘mourned’ by wearing a black cloth tied around their wrists.

When the voting was going on yesterday, various chaoses occurred at many of the polling stations throughout the country.

Among the issues were of foreigners who were voting with Malaysian identification cards, the use of indelible ink which was not permanent and the sudden increase of ballot boxes.
