Rajiv’s Focus is on Bukit Gasing Development

PETALING JAYA, 18 May: As a new Assemblyman, Rajiv Rishyakaran will focus on solving the development issues in the area of the Bukit Gasing constituency which is located in the heart of Petaling Jaya.

Due to the rapid growth of the city, Rajiv said that the aspects and impacts of development is a sensitive issue which must be dealt with carefully in the interest of the public.

“Like the industrial area redevelopment programme to the commercial development in Section 13 (Petaling Jaya), we worry about the traffic impact in the area.

“For that, we have already started, from time to time, a dialogue session and early discussions with representatives of parties involved as well as the representatives of the residents to provide improvements to the programme,” said Rajiv in a press conference.

Also present at the press conference was the MP for Petaling Jaya Utara, Tony Pua, the Damansara Assemblywoman, Yeo Bee Yin and member of the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), Derek Fernandez.

In addition, Rajiv will also monitor any development plans in Section 5, which covers most areas with slopes.

“As of yesterday, we have received assurances personally from the MBPJ Mayor that no development projects are permitted in the area for the coming period,” stressed Rajiv.

Before becoming an Assemblyman, Rajiv served as a Council Member for the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) from 2008 to 2013.

In the recent General Election, he defeated three other candidates by a majority of 15,842 votes.

In other developments, the local people are welcome to visit the Bukit Gasing constituency Service Centre located at the MBPJ Hockey Stadium here at Jalan Selangor to file a complaint.

The centre will operate from Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and it will also open on Wednesday nights from 7.30pm to 10pm.

“In the meantime, the residents are advised to inform us in advance to ensure that there are staff at the office as we do not have permanent staff,” said Rajiv.
