State Government Ready to Review Selangor Sports Development Additional Allocations

SHAH ALAM, July 9: After Selangor’s success in winning the Sukma XVI, the State Government is ready to consider additional provisions to develop sports in the state.

According to Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, the additional provisions will be channelled to any association in need of provisions to finance training.

“I have asked the Selangor State Sports Council (MSN) tell me of any sports that require additional provisions so that it can be improved.

“Also of any sports that need support in terms of training.

Because we want to make sure in the Sukma next year, Selangor will be able to compete much more vigorously,” said Abdul Khalid.

Previously, the Head of the Selangor Sukma XVI Contingent, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi said that he hopes that the State Government is willing to consider provisions to develop sports in Selangor.

According to him, the additional provisions is necessary to ensure that Selangor will be able to defend its title in next year;s Sukma games and to develop sports in Selangor on the whole.

Dr Ahmad Yunus, who is the Exco for Selangor Youth and Sports, added that compared to other states that receive provisions up to RM10 million, Selangor only allocates RM5 million a year.
