Selangor Sultan Assents to have Contributions Reach the Poor, Needy, Orphans and Converts

SHAH ALAM, July 12: A total of 550 people who are poor (fakir), needy (fakir) and converts received Raya contributions from the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) in a Buka Puasa (fast breaking) Ceremony with the People here at the State Mosque.

Contribution was distributed to 150 poor asnaf, 150 needy asnaf, 150 orphans and 100 converts, with each receiving a contribution of RM400 per person, while orphans received RM100 per person.

DYMM (His Royal Highness) the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah consented to present the contributions before breaking fast with the people here at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque.

During the same ceremony, the Sultan of Selangor also consented to receiving business zakat payment of RM5.4 million from two subsidiary companies of the Selangor State Government.

The two subsidiary companies are the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) and Worldwide Holdings Berhad (WHB), with each fulfilling their zakat of RM4.02 million and RM1.38 million respectively.

PKNS was represented by its General Manager, Othman Omar, while the zakat by WHB was presented by its Chairman, Datuk Noordin Sulaiman.

The business zakat payment is for the 2012 financial year.

Also present was the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, the State Secretary, Datuk Mohamed Khusrin Munawi, the Chairman of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais), Datuk Mohd Adzib Mohd Isa, Selangor Mufti, Datuk Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid, the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) Director, Datuk Marzuki Hussin as well as Selangor State Executive Councillors.
