Audit Report Questions Ministry Spending RM320,000 for FB and Twitter

KUALA LUMPUR, 1 Oct: The Auditor General questioned the RM320,000 payment by the ministry of health to the two companies for two online campaigns on Facebook and Twitter.

The expenses were made when the ministry was led by Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

According to Malaysia Kini, a part of the payment of RM199,068 went to Eficaz Sdn Bhd for the Facebook ‘Tak Nak Merokok’ (No To Smoking) campaign.

The second Facebook page and the Twitter account which was developed by Astonish View Sdn Bhd for the ‘Non-Communicable Disease Intervention Campaign’ too up a cost of RM120,500.

The Auditor General’s 2012 report commented that the scope of both tasks were very similar but Astonish View was paid RM120,000 to develop the Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Meanwhile, Eficaz Media was paid a higher amount just to develop one Facebook page.

The report informed the Eficaz Media was appointed for the period of July to December 2011 and was paid in full based on the number of ‘Likes’ acquired by the site, which was set at 100,000.
