Anwar’s Advance in Selangor, Najib and BN are Increasingly Pressured

SHAH ALAM, 2 Feb: The decision to place Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as the candidate for the Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat is increasingly pressuring Barisan Nasional (BN) to survive or maintain control as the government.

The former Wangsa Maju Umno Youth Deputy Chief, Shahbudin Husin, said that Anwar and Pakatan Rakyat (PR) have an advantage compared to BN because of the many weaknesses of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, which have been very apparent recently.

He said that Najib’s credibility is not only questioned and doubted by the people, but many groups who previously supported him have been seen to have pulled their ‘hand brakes’ and have started to openly criticise and dispute him.

“Many have lost confidence that Najib is able to lead Umno-BN to success in the next general election, including the former Finance Minister, Tun Daim Zainuddin.

“Although Najib has many supporters and stands out, but it is not because of the quality of his leadership or his assertiveness in solving problems.

“Coupled with a variety of critical issues that have been happening in the country since before, his assertiveness barely stands out, and in fact, Najib is better suited to be a leader during peace and not during a crisis,” he said in a statement on his blog.

In fact, Najib’s weaknesses in leading Umno-BN was increasingly evident in the 13th General Election (GE13) when a growing majority of seats fell into PR’s hands and probably, the majority will continue to decline if not stopped.

“The probability for BN to lose can no longer be rejected if Najib remains in his current position,” he added.
