SHAH ALAM, 3 Feb: The Opposition leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is capable of becoming the people’s saviour in bringing up motions in the Council of Malay Rulers to discuss issues concerning religion and race.
Political activist, Hishamuddin Rais, said that the Kajang Assemblyman candidate is capable because he is a politician with international standards.
He said that currently, issues related to religion and race has been created by some parties to remain in control of the country.
“Anwar is an international politician, he has the ability of religious views that perhaps politicians and the people might not know of,” he said at the Anwar from kajang to Putrajaya Forum at the Bangsar Radio Club recently.
Hishamuddin said that in a country that is semi-Feudal and semi-colonial, the personality of an individual is important for the country to advance.
“Let us look at before Pakatan Rakyat existed. The son of the King himself (Tengku Razaleigh) failed. That is why we see Anwar as capable.
“Our country practices federalism, Anwar is just the Opposition Leader. He cannot bring about many changes in Parliament.
“But when he becomes a Chief Minister in a parliamentary country, he can make changes in issues concerning Malays, religion and the granting of property. He can object to things that shoud not happen,” he said.
He said that the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, is a brilliant economist and needs strong support in terms of politics.
“We must remember, in the past five years there have been many open and closed criticism about Abdul Khalid’s capability.
“But who is behind him? Anwar Ibrahim…so it is not wrong is Anwar becomes the Chief Minister and Abdul Khalid becomes the state economic advisor,” he said.
In this regard, he said, the young people of Selangor need a leader that is more competent to generate excess culture at this time.
