“The threats against Teresa Kok are shocking. I have never seen anything like this. What’s worse is they are going to get away with it because our Home Minister doesn’t know the law,” Ambiga said.

She was speaking at Tunku Abdul Rahman Legacy Forum which was held at the New Era University College Auditorium recently in conjunction with the 111th birthday of Tunku on 8 February.

Ambiga urged the people to not be concerned with statements chasing legitimate citizens from the Chinese and Indian community to ‘return’ to their country of origin.

“This is our country, we were equally born and raised, Malaysia is our country together,” said Ambiga.

Ambiga praised the majority of the Malay community who reject politics that trying to incite racial issues to create hatred among races.

Ambiga said that Tunku would be saddened to know that there are some parties deliberately playing with the issue of racism for political interests.

“Tunku Abdul Rahman was disappointed with the May 13 incident, he was instrumental in gaining independence and in fact, endeavoured to promote harmonious relations between races,” Ambiga said.
