Anwar: Wait for Selangor’s Explanation; Don’t Make Assumptions on Water Issue

KAJANG, 4 Mar: The Selangor State Economic Advisor, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, has urged everyone to wait for clarification from the Selangor Government regarding the restructuring of the water industry.

In fact, he has asked Rafizi to not make any assumptions although he is not prohibiting the Pandan Member of Parliament from bringing up the issue.

However, the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader said that questions on the restructuring may arise because it involves the interests of the people.

“This is a heavy issue that affects the interests of the state and the people. So to bring up the question is alright, but do not see it as a conflict between two parties,” he said.

He said this in response to questions from reporters at the Kajang by-election Main Operations Room press conference just now.

Yesterday, Rafizi disputed the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Putrajaya and the Selangor Government, but the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, deemed it to be merely an assumption by the PKR Strategy Director.

Confirming that Rafizi had informed him before bringing up the issue, Anwar also admitted that he had advised Rafizi to wait for further clarification from the Selangor Government.

He initially had no problem with the State Government in signing the agreement as long as the power of the state and the interests of the people are protected.
