“I will meet with the minister and discuss the acquisition process. I have actually written a letter to the minister to discuss the implementation steps.

“That way, the three projects will be carried out simultaneously; the restructuring and the takeover of water operations from the concessionaires,” he said.

Abdul Khalid said that a number of approvals from the State Government for the Langat 2 project must be carried out simultaneously and also discussions with the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) about the granting of the RM2 billion allocation to the State Government.

Previously, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) claimed that the Federal Government had betrayed the water Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) made with the Selangor Government by refusing to use the Water Services Industry Act (WSIA) to resolve disputes on the water management issues in the state.

Pakatan leader, Rafizi Ramli, Tony Pua and Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, in a joint statement, said that the WSIA needs to be used to take over the water concessions in Selangor.
