Wan Azizah Only Able to View School from Outside

KAJANG, 18 Mar: Recognising that it is improper to campaign on school grounds, the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, choose to meet the students’ parents at the bus hut outside the school gate.

Ironically, the school, Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Kantan, is actually a school which was inaugurated by her own husband when he was a member of the government cabinet.

Interestingly, her presence at the bus hut located outside the main entrance of the school did not only attract the attention of parents who are busy sending and fetching their children from school, but it also attracted the attention of a group of three to five teachers at the school.

Refusing to miss the opportunity to meet Dr Wan Azizah, the group of teachers were seen stealing their way to approach the nearby fence to meet and greet with the PKR President.

The group of teachers looked excited and also managed to give words of encouragement to Dr Wan Azizah, who was conducting by-election campaigning in Sungai Kantan today.

After the State Government transferred to Pakatan Rakyat (PR), the Federal Government acted to prevent the Chief Minister and PR state leaders to hold programmes in school areas in the state.

The restriction also included programmes that can benefit students and teachers.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, had been previously prevented from donating money to a school in Selangor.

However, the ban does not apply to Barisan Nasional (BN) when their leaders often enter schools to meet their political needs.
