MH370: Why are the communication transcripts taking a long time to be disclosed?

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Apr: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) questioned why the BN Government is taking so long to disclose communication transcripts between the MH370 aircraft and communication towers.

The Member of Parliament for Gelang Patah, Lim Kit Siang, said that the transcript should be disclosed sooner because outsiders are beginning to point fingers, as if Malaysia is trying to ‘hide’ information.

“Why do they want to hide transcript? Why not issue it earlier?

“There is nothing that shows something malicious (based on the transcript).

“In terms of transparency, this is very important. We need to take a lesson from this,” he said at the Parliament lobby today.

He said that the government also needs to take weight of public opinion through surveys by Merdeka Centre that stated dissatisfaction regarding the handling of this case.

He explained that public criticism cannot be construed as anti-national and not patriotic, but instead be given attention and take better steps to resolve it.

The independent survey found that 50 percent of Malaysians are not happy with the way Putrajaya handled this crisis and criticism and conflict of information on Malaysia has escalated.

While only 43 percent were satisfied on the matter.

In the same press conference, the Member of Parliament for Pokok Sena, Mahfuz Omar, asked for clarification from the acting Minister of Transport, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, whether they will take action on media in the country.

4.3

This is following media reports that interpreted the statement by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, saying that the ‘MH370 flight ended in the Southern Indian Ocean’ with an image of a crashed plane.

In addition, he also asked for clarification regarding the government contacting Boeing and Rolls Royce to obtain information about the investigation.

Meanwhile, it was also informed that Pakatan Rakyat leaders will be called on Tuesday next week to be briefed on the investigation process concerning MH370 following the cancellation of the briefing which should have taken place yesterday.
