“The total investment in the state shows the Selangor’s economy is still strong and is a popular investment destination for foreign and local investors,” he said, responding to a question by Haslin Hassan (PAS-Tanjung Sepat).

This is followed by Singapore, at RM840 million, the United States at RM459 million, China at RM 228 million and Switzerland at RM212 million.

“One of the main factors that attract foreign investors is the strategic position the state is withe the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Port Klang.

“Apart from that is political stability, the use of the English language as a second language, intellectual property protection, comfortable infrastructure facilities, logistics services, the availability of skilled and semi-skilled workers as well as international standard medical centres and education,” he said.

He also informed that in this short period of time, the loss of the Malaysia Airlines MH370 aircraft has affected investment from China.

“However, we will continue to forge relationships and maintain investment in this country, in addition, we will be holding a promotion in the country through the Selangor State Investment Centre (SSIC),” he said.
