State Government Keeps Promise, 90 Residents of Bestari Jaya Receive Land Grants

BESTARI JAYA, 5 May: Over 90 residents from Kampung Pecah Batu, Kampung Permai and Kampung Jaya received land grants presented by the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, in a ceremony here, yesterday.

The presentation of the land grants was done after the residents received the 5A Form in April last year and managed to pay the land premium of only RM1,000.

Recipient, M Kupusamy, 80, from Kampung Pecah Batu, expressed happiness after 40 years of hoping to own the land came true.

“I am very overwhelmed. It has been a long wait. It is true, before this I did not apply because I knew that to receive the land involved an expensive price.

“However, I am grateful to the Chief Minister because he considered reducing the land premium price to a lower rate,” he said.

Another recipient, Khairiah Mistar, 50, said that she was overwhelmed with the concern of the Chief Minister towards the people in the state who have yet to own a home.

“I have been waiting for this land since 19 years ago and I did not think that the Chief Minister was true to his people,” she said.

For A Sithradabi, 32, his family is very happy when their traditional land now is now our permanently property.

“I represent my father, he has passed away. I’m sure that if my father was still alive, he would certainly be happy because he has long been waiting for the land to become our family’s property.

“What makes us happier is that the whole village also received land grants,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid, in his speech, said that they are still offering the opportunity, with various alternatives, for residents who are not yet able to own land because they cannot afford to pay the premium of RM1,000.

He said that the presentation of land grants to original settlers is in line with the State Government’s hopes; for the state to be developed, the people must have property.

“I want to give this land so that it is not transferable and is the property of the families to be passed down to their children and grandchildren,” he said.
