Section 25 morning market traders set to move to modern market

SHAH ALAM, 9 MAY: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has prepared a modern market with various facilities for the convenience of morning market traders here in Section 25.

The Deputy Corporate Director, Shahrin Ahmad, said the modern market has three stories for businesses, consisting of 67 units for wet goods, 72 units for dry goods and eight sales kiosks.

He added the modern market has 28 food stalls unit, as well as three stories of parking which can accommodate 200 cars and 112 motorcycles.

“MBSA would like to stress that ownership and priority will be given to local citizens with legitimate business licenses from us, as well as the current traders from the existing morning market. ”

“Business permission will not be given to third-parties who are not the true business licence owners or tenants of business premises.

“Periodic monitoring will be conducted to ensure that the real traders or business license owners conduct their businesses at their own premises,” he added in a statement.

A ceremony to sign the letter of undertaking for the purpose of relocating the morning market in Section 25 was held at the Kemunting Hall on the May 5.

At the same event, traders were briefed on building plans of the market building which will be built near the current market’s location.

“The market building plan exhibition will be held to provide insight to traders on the new market that is to be built,” he said.

Also present at the event was the Shah Alam City Council Mayor, Datuk Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan; the Kota Raja Member of Parliament, Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud and the Assemblyman of Seri Muda,Shuhaimi Shafie.

The construction of the new market is expected to commence in August this year and will take 18 to 24 months to complete and begin operations.
