“This initiative is an effort to ensure that business transactions and administration of the three PKNS subsidiary companies are done with good stewardship, including efforts to prevent corruption and misuse of power in organisations,” he said.

He added that so far, seven out of 11 PKNS subsidiary companies have signed the CIP and the rest are expected to do so before the end of this year.

Meanwhile, Sutinah explained that the construction industry has a high risk of corruption, especially in efforts to get tenders and projects.

Sutinah said that the move to sign the CIP is a starting point for companies to improve the integrity system with the help of respective corporate integrity departments.

She added that the MACC is ready to provide the training required, especially for companies that want to appoint their officers for their integrity units.

So far, a total of 434 companies and organisations have signed the pledge since it was introduced in 2011.
