PKNS should clarify sale issue of Bukit Botak housing

SHAH ALAM, 2 June: The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) will provide further clarification on claims saying that cronyism exists in the issue of the sale of the detached houses in Bukit Botak, Selayang.

The Executive Councillor for Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlers, Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that he received numerous complaints from members of the public who are not satisfied because they claim that the criteria selection for the purchase of the houses is not clear.

He said that PKNS has been informed of this matter and the corporation promises to shed light to buyers in the near future.

“There have been claims saying that PKNS failed to properly manage the people who come to buy houses, so much so that they had to wait overnight in front of the PKNS sales office.

“My office informed PKNS of this matter, in fact a series of meetings were held with PKNS, the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) and the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS),” he said in a statement.

Iskandar, who is also the Assemblyman for Cempaka, said that the housing project is a joint effort between the State Government and PKNS to relocate settlers of Bukit Botak who were promised homes previously by Barisan Nasional (BN).

He said a total of 1,422 houses have been completed, in which 1,196 units have been allocated for the urban settlers, while 79 other units have been reserved for urban settlers who were neglected.

“This means that the remaining 147 units have been open to sales to the general public, however there have been complaints about the method of sale of the houses.

“However, PKNS is aware of this matter and will issue a statement soon,” he said.
