The Malaysia Airlines (MAS) MH17 aircraft was believed to have been shot down when passing through the Eastern Ukraine airspace late Thursday night and 298 passengers and crew were killed.

The aircraft took off from Amsterdam at 12.15 pm, local time, and was expected to arrive at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 6.10 am, Malaysian time.
