Issue public statement of rejecting nominations, only support Wan Azizah

SHAH ALAM, 29 Aug: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) today urged the PKR Assemblymen in Selangor to withdraw if they find their names being nominated by anyone for the seat of the new Chief Minister of Selangor.

The PKR Vice President, Rafizi Ramli, asked for Selangor PKR Assemblymen to issue public statements on the stand and express their support for the President of PKR, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, as the sole candidate for the Selangor Chief Minister seat.

“I urge for other Selangor PKR Assemblymen to make public statements to withdraw from nomination by anyone to respect the unanimous decision of the party, which has also been agreed by the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Leadership Council.

“An open statement by every PKR Assemblymen in Selangor supporting the nomination of Dr Wan Azizah and withdrawing from any nomination is a symbol of their loyalty to the party and unity in the fight against Umno-Barisan Nasional (BN),” said Rafizi in a press statement today.

In his press statement, Rafizi also express congratulations to the Assemblyman for Seri Setia, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who openly expressed his full support for the nomination of Dr Wan Azizah as the Chief Minister of Selangor.

He said that Nik Nazmi, in a previous statement, did not only reject nominations as recommended by the PAS Youth Chief, Suhaizan Kayat, but also expressed his support towards the party’s decision to nominate Dr Wan Azizah as the sole candidate.

“PKR and the Pakatan Rakyat Leadership Council have unanimously decided that Dr Wan Azizah is the sole candidate by PR as the Chief Minister of Selangor. This decision should be respected as shown by Nik Nazmi,” he said.
