PKNS plants the millionth tree at the Selangor Science Park 2

SHAH ALAM, 29 Aug: The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) made history when they successfully planted the millionth tree since 1964.

The PKNS Public Relations Manager, Ishak Hashim, said that the success of planting the millionth tree was held in the eleventh city, the Selangor Science Park 2, today.

He said that the planting of the tree is in conjunction with the PKNS Gold Jubilee Celebration this year.

“Since 1964, various trees have been planted by PKNS, including Bucida Buciras, Khaya Senegalensis, Samanea Saman, Euginia Glauca, Ficus Elastica and Tabebuia Rosea

“The trees planted today are Casuarina Sumatrana (Rhu Sumatrana),” he said in a press statement.

PKNS was established on August 1, 1964, under the Selangor State Development Corporation Enactment as a corporate body and agency for state development.

He said that the establishment of PKNS is aimed at promoting stability, harmony and social justice to achieve the country’s vision.

“Since 50 years ago, PKNS already instilled the love for lush trees that provide comfort and the well-being of everyday life in the community,” he said.

“In addition, other programmes have been organised by PKNS to enliven the 50th anniversary, including the Annual Integrity Convention 2014, the PKNS Golden Jubilee Bowling Tournament with the media and the Kota Puteri Fishing Challenge,” he said.
