SEPANG, 9 Sept: The remains of two more MH17 victims arrived at the Bunga Raya Complex at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) this morning.
The plane carrying the remains of Tambi Jiee and Benjamin Lee Jian Han, 1-year-old, arrived at 8.28 am and a tribute was also give to the two victims.
Tambi’s casket was pushed out of the plane at 8.37 am, followed by the casket with Benjamin Lee’s ashes at 8.40 am, a sad atmosphere enveloped the tent where the relatives of both victims were.
The relatives of the victims were seen in tears while hugging each other. As soon as the caskets of both victims were placed into the hearse, all present at the ceremony took a minute of silence at 8.44 am as a sign of respect.
Citing the report by MStar, the hearse then left the Bunga Raya Complex at 8.46 am.
Tambi’s remains was then flown to Kuching, Sarawak, by the Royal Malaysian Air Force’s Hercules C130 to be buried with his wife and child, who were also killed in the tragic incident.
Tambi’s wife, Ariza Ghazalee, 46, and his eldest son, Muhammad Afif, 19, were buried on August 22.
Tambi, a Shell employee, was working in Khazakhstan since three years ago, was on the MH17 aircraft with his wife and four children.
They were on their way back to Malaysia before Tambi returned to work at the Shell Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, the casket carrying Benjamin Lee was taken by a hearse to the Xiao En Bereavement Centre in Cheras.
Benjamin Lee is the son of a lecturer at the University Malaysia, Sabah (UMS), Ng Shi Ing, who was also killed in the same incident.
With the arrival of the remains of the two Malaysians, 35 MH17 victims have been brought back to Malaysia, including a passenger with dual citizenship (Loh Yan Hwa) and two Dutch nationals (Paul Goes and Fan Shun Po).
The MH17 aircraft carrying 298 passengers and crew from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed on July 17 after being shot down in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine.
