He said that more storage is necessary when facing the dry season during the monsoon transition period which is expected to start in January to March next year and the Southwest monsoon which is expected to take place from May to September 2015.

“So far, through a number of activities carried out by the state government such as cloud seeding, pumping pool water into the river and taking into account the factor that rain has fallen lately, the water storage at dams, especially the Sungai Selangor and Sungai Tinggi dams, have increased.

“However, consumers are advised to not waste and take austerity measures to avoid any wastage,” he said in a statement.

According to the data from the Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS), as of October 7, the Sungai Selangor dam which supplied 60 percent of water to the Klang Valley has now reached 39.63 percent.

The Batu Dam is at 90.49 percent, Klang Gates (92.66 percent), Sungai Labu (60.33 percent) Langat (61.71 percent), Semenyih (64.24 percent), Sungai Tinggi (44.54 percent) and Sungai Subang (57.87 percent).
