SEPANG, 7 Nov: Less than a week after the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, posted his phone number to the public, over 1,000 short messaging service (SMS) text messages were received, informing him about the waste collection issue.
He said that all complaints reported were extended to the relevant local authorities to ensure immediate action is taken.
“This is an on-going effort to ensure that all local authorities work hard to ensure that the cleanliness in Selangor is given priority.
“I expect more SMS to come in,” he told reporters after attending the Sepang District Government Department Monthly Assembly today.
Mohamed Azmin also did not rule out the fact the waste problem is often a concern in Selangor, but is determined to solve the problem.
“There is certainly a lot of waste. These are complaints from the people, so I have asked the local authorities to look into it whether there is waste to be cleaned up,” he added.
Prior to this, Mohamed Azmin made the bold decision to give his personal phone number to the public and asked residents to contact him if they see waste that has not been collected.
Until now, his statement received the support of many of his followers on Twitter and Facebook.
Earlier, Mohamed Azmin gave a period of three months for local authorities to clean up the waste in all districts.
