CM orders the Petaling District Officer to look for an alternative site for PAWS

SHAH ALAM, 20 Nov: The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, instructed the Petaling Land and District Office to find an alternative site for the PAWS Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) which was previously given a 14-day notice to move.

“I have summoned the district officer and explained, and ordered other places to be found to house the animal shelter,” he said, taken from The Malay Mail today.

Azmin explained that the land which is currently occupied by the animal shelter was to be used as part of state development as well as for a Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.

Prior to this, PAWS was allowed to continue their operations in the current site until a relocation study for the centre is completed by the state government.

The Manager of PAWS, Edward Lim, said that the matter was decided in a discussion between him and the Petaling Land and District Office.

However, Edward explained that PAWS cannot be sure whether the land is owned by the government or otherwise.

This was because Sime Darby informed PAWS that they wanted to take back the land two years ago.
