The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the matter was decided during his discussion with the Exco for Housing, Building Management and Urban Living, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad.

“This morning I discussed with Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad on how we can generate funds to repair damaged homes, especially in Kelantan such as in Kuala Krai, Gua Musang, Tanah Merah, Pasir Mas, Ketereh and places that require attention.

“We will generate funds from government-linked companies (GLCs) and the private sector. As of yesterday, we have already received a pretty good amount and we will launch it on January 2.

“We will announce it on Friday and I think that the amount is very encouraging,” said Mohamed Azmin after surveying several villages affected by the floods here at Bukit Mentok today.

Mohamed Azmin said that the priorities include repairing roofs, walls and kitchens for a proper cooking place.

“Iskandar will look into the technology for us to immediately build roofs, walls and kitchens,” he said.

Azmin also called on the Federal Government to provide equal aid to all states involved.

Touching on the assistance given to people from all walks of life, Mohamed Azmin said that ideological differences should not be a deterrent for all parties to work together in the interest of the people.

Earlier, the Selangor government handed over flood donations amounting to RM100,000 to the Terengganu government despite different political beliefs.
