Concessionaires should hasten finalising the water agreement structuring

SHAH ALAM, 22 Jan: The move by the concessionaire of allegedly delaying the water structuring agreement in Selangor is believed to put pressure on the state government in order to increase the amount of compensation paid.

Klang Member of Parliament, Charles Santiago, said that the concession company concerned should resolve any matters involving shareholding and banks by the middle of this month (January) based on the master agreement previously agreed upon.

He said that delaying the water structuring agreement will cause the state government to wait longer to manage the water industry in the interest of the people in the future.

“This issue may be related to the attempt to urge the state government and the federal government to review the compensation which will be paid to them,” he told Selangor Kini.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that there will not be any extension given to concessionaires to finalise the Selangor water structuring agreement.

He said that all processes regarding the matter will take place as prescribed.
