MPS waiting for discussion on the status of the Taman Ehsan market

SHAH ALAM, 25 Jan: The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) is waiting for further discussions with the Paya Jaras Assemblyman’s office regarding the objection on demolishing the Taman Ehsan Public Market among traders and the residents in the area.

The MPS Corporate Department Director, Mohamad Zin Masoad, said that so far they have not made any decision until a meeting is held with the Paya Jaras Assemblyman, Mohd Khairuddin Othman, early this February.

“MPS still has not decided on demolishing the public market because they are waiting for the discussion with the Assemblyman to find a solution.

“But, the council is confident that the matter will be resolved amicably,” he said through Whatsapp to Selangor Kini today.

He said that until today, traders are still allowed to carry out their respective businesses as usual.

Prior to this, MPS was asked to postpone demolishing the Taman Ehsan Public Market to make way for discussions between the representatives of the traders, the Paya Jaras Assemblyman and the public authority concerned, which will take place on February 4.

It is understood that MPS decided to demolish the market and replace it with a shophouse project which will be developed by a private developer as an income for MPS due to the high real estate value.

Previously, MPS issued a notice for the traders to vacate the shop lots in the market to make way for the demolition, which was originally scheduled to take place on January 28.

However, the action received opposition from the Assemblyman, 51 traders and the locals.
