SHAH ALAM, 26 Jan: The decision for the ‘Defamation 2’ case involving the PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, will be announced on February 10 (Tuesday), 9.00 am.

This was informed on a Twitter post by the Justice Department.

The appeal decision will be announced by the panel of five judges, led by the Chief Justice, Tun Arifin Zakaria.

Also in the panel is the President of the Court of Appeal, Tan Sri Md Raus Sharif, and Federal Court judges Tan Sri Abdull Hamid Embong, Tan Sri Suriyadi Halim Omar and Datuk Ramly Ali, who heard Anwar’s appeal in November last year and postponed the decision.

“I received information saying that the Federal Court has set February 10 as the date for the judgement for my appeal case at the Federal Court in the Putrajaya Palace of Justice.

“Based on the arguments of my legal team, I am sure I will be released based on the detailed facts and strong laws that were laid before the Federal Court panel,” said Anwar in a media statement.

He said that defamation should not be used as a tool in political boxing and given space to play havoc in the country.

“I prayed to Allah the Almighty so that justice can be upheld and I will be released,” he said.
