BANTING, 30 Jan: Most traders welcomed the efforts of the Kuala Langat District Council (MDKL) in distributing 240 litre sized Mobile Garbage Bins (MGBs).
The initiative was carried out in accordance with the desire of the state government administration in handling waste complaints by the community and to make the environment more beautiful and garbage-free.
The Yang DiPertua of MDKL, Mohd Azhar Mohamed Ali, said that they are monitoring the use of garbage bins in front of premises so that there will not be piles of rubbish in front of shops.
He said that if traders and operators fail to comply with the rules set, during the next licence renewal they will be instructed to buy trash bins to be placed in front of their premises.
“This year, MDKL received an allocation of RM965,000 to implement the Public Cleaning and Solid Waste Management Action Plan from the state government,” he said.
He said that the total allocation for the purchase of the bins (MGB/Roro) was RM351,000, including the purchase of 1,100 units of 240 litre MGBs and 150 units of 660 litre MGBs, as well as 422 units of bins have been distributed.
Mohd Azhar hopes that they can use this facility as best possible to ensure that efforts towards this waste problem can be successful.
Through the provision of garbage bins in the areas of business premises and locations identified, it can prevent the problem of waste not being disposed properly, including the issue of illegal waste dumping around the town of Banting.
MDKL, through the Department of Urban and Environmental Services, will monitor the operation area and ensure that garbage collection is done according to schedule.
