SHAH ALAM, 12 Feb: PKR has the right to determine the most suitable candidate to be placed in the Permatang Pauh seat if a by-election is held.
Shah Alam Member of Parliament, Khalid Abd Samad, said that the seat that was occupied by the PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, should be a catalyst to strengthen PR.
“Who is to be placed as the candidate depends on PKR because it is their seat,” he said at a press conference today.
He said that Permatang Pauh should be a stepping stone in preparation for the 14th General Election (GE14) to topple BN.
Touching on who will lead PR after Anwar’s absence, he said that all three parties have their respective strengths.
“There is no struggle for leadership because all parties have their respective strengths. It will be discussed well on who will replace Anwar,” he said.
On February 10, the Federal Court sentenced Anwar to five years in prison after he failed his appeal in the Defamation II case.
