Nik Nazmi remanded for 3 days, CM urges for his immediate release

SHAH ALAM, 9 Mar: Selangor Exco Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad is being remanded for three days following the organisation of the pro-Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim demonstration last Saturday.

Nik Nazmi, who is also the PKR AMK Chief, is being detained at the Dang Wangi police station since yesterday afternoon after going there to give his statement.

His lawyer, Eric Paulsen, said that they will file a revision against the magistrate’s decision.

Prior to this, the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, urged the police to release Nik Nazmi immediately and unconditionally.

He condemned the arrest because the authorities should respect the Seri Setia Assemblyman and Exco by not humiliating him in such a way.

He said that the arrest was unacceptable and violates the country’s constitution.
