Capacity of dams in Selangor under control

SHAH ALAM, 15 Mar: The capacity of three out of eight dams in Selangor are under 80 percent based on the monitoring conducted by the Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS).

According to the LUAS website, these dams are the Sungai Labu Reservoir (ORS) at a capacity of 77.11 percent or 6.87 million cubic metres, the Sungai Selangor dam at 73.89 percent or 169.96 million cubic metres and the Sungai Tinggi dam at 70.29 percent or 80.36 million cubic metres.

The Batu Retention Pond recorded 86.70 percent at a rate of 27.71 million cubic metres and the Klang Gates dam at 84.70 percent (21.46 million cubic metres).

In addition, the Sungai Langat dam is at 31.35 million cubic metres (91.96 percent), the Sungai Semenyih dam at 56.26 million cubic metres (95.24 percent) and the Tasik Subang dam is at 4.21 million cubic metres (100 percent).

LUAS began the cloud seeding process around the Sungai Selangor dam aimed at increasing the reservoir capacity that decreased and now stands at 73.89 percent.
