KUALA LUMPUR, 16 Mar: The Parliament should allow the Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to be present in Parliament for the current session.
The Gombak Member of Parliament, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that Anwar is a Member of Parliament and the valid Opposition Leader who should be given permission to be present in Parliament, like his attendance in civil court cases.
“The Speaker has an independent power and role to play in Parliament to allow Anwar to attend.
“There is room given to be present in Parliament, just like the court allowed Anwar’s presence in civil cases,” said Mohamed Azmin who is also the Selangor Chief Minister in the Parliamentary session.
He said that the Parliament should prove that the institution is independent from executive influence.
