CM: PR proves integrity in the Kidex issue

SHAH ALAM, 3 Apr: Leaders cannot take the safe route, instead, they should be brave to make decisions in defending the rights of the people.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, acknowledged that such credibility and integrity needs to be taken by him in making a decision to cancel the development of the Kidex Highway.

“The state government decided to cancel the development of Kidex after obtaining opinions from Members of Parliament and state Assemblymen from the area and listened to feedback from several parties,” he said when answering a verbal question from Abdul Rani Osman (PAS-Meru).

On February 16, Mohamed Azmin announced the cancellation of the Kidex project development on grounds that the concessionaire failed to meet three conditions even though the state government provide adequate time to do so.

The requirements were to provide an impact assessments for traffic, social and environment, and stating the toll rates during the concession period.

“The Kidex highway issue has been going on for a long time and I am grateful that in the short period I was given trust that this issue can be addressed,” he said.
