SHAH ALAM, 3 Apr: Only competent contractors are appointed through the advertising and quotation process to ensure that public property at People’s Housing Projects (PPRs) are taken care of.
The Exco for Housing, Building Management and Urban Living, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that a similar process is also used for cleaning and maintenance of apartments.
“The contractors appointed are safety contractors to ensure the safety of public property is cared for and contractors to carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance.
“Contractors for the public structure division carry out work at public areas such as manholes and contractors for cleaning and washing to care for the cleanliness of common areas,” he said when answering a verbal question from Gan Pei Nei (PKR-Rawang) during the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) session today.
According to Iskandar, the process is being implemented at the Kampung Baru Hicom PPR, the Kota Damansara PPR and the Lembah Subang PPR, with a total expenditure of about RM303,472.37 last year.
According to him, PHSSB began carrying out management and maintenance work for the whole of the Kampung Bari Hicom PPR starting September 2014 involving eight security guards with a total expenditure of RM63,364 until December 2014.
“Meanwhile, for the Kota Damansara PPR, the total expenditure for 10 security guards for 2014 was RM203,484.95, and the Lembah Subang PPR with 16 security guards amounted to RM36,623.42 last year,” he said.
