SHAH ALAM, 17 Apr: Placing a candidate for the Permatang Pauh by-election is the right of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) as the incumbent.
The PKR President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, said this in response to allegations that there is a party branch in Pakatan Rakyat which will reject if she is re-nominated.
“No problem. They have the right, but Keadilan has the right for the candidate selection,” she told Selangor Kini.
When asked about the PKR candidate, Wan Azizah smiled and asked to wait for the announcement, which is expected to take place next week.
“The question about who the candidate is, we will announce it later,” she said, adding that Permatang Pauh will still be won by Pakatan.
The Permatang Pauh PAS warned PKR to not place its President as the candidate for the Permatang Pauh by-election, which is scheduled to take place on May 7.
Last Tuesday, the Permatang Pauh Parliament By-Election Machinery was launched with the slogan ‘For the Sake of the People, Oppose GST and Uphold Justice’ in the Pakatan campaign.
