SHAH ALAM, 21 Apr: Islam has never taught its adherents to demand for the symbols of other religions to be taken down.
The PKR President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, said that the protest in Taman Medan has political intentions and is contrary to Islam, which promotes mutual respect among various religions.
“The protest was clearly politically motivated because Islam does not teach such actions,” she said, taken from The Malay Mail Online.
Wan Azizah also brought up the story about when Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat found the cross being taken down when he visited a church and asked about it.
Then Nik Aziz was told that the cross was taken down because renovation was being done to the church, not because of his presence.
“Nik Aziz was very concerned about it. This is what Islam truly is,” said the Kajang Assemblyman.
