SHAH ALAM, 11 Apr: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should increase enforcement to address cases of clone vehicles that endanger users.
The President of the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (FOMCA), Dr N. Marimuthu, said that JPH should intensify ongoing monitoring so that such cases can be prevented.
“They need to improve inspection operations for the safety of the people so that they are not fooled by syndicates of illegal vehicle dealers,” he said in a press statement.
He said that apart from preventing government losses in the form of taxes, JPJ and the MACC should prevent losses among vehicle owners.
He hopes that the MACC will rectify any shortcomings in the existing system and to expand operations throughout the country.
Recently, 167 clone vehicles worth over RM13 million were seized by the MACC and JPJ.
