KUBANG SEMANG, 29 Apr: The Election Commission (EC) has been asked to investigate libel pamphlets being distributed in Permatang Pauh.
The Member of Parliament for Bukit Mertajam, Steven Sim Chee Keong, said that the investigation is necessary because several copies of the pamphlets are being rolled up and placed at his Operation Centre in Taman Ciku in Bukit Mertajam early in the morning.
“The EC is urged to investigate the pamphlets because there is no source, but it is clearly aimed at tarnishing the image of Pakatan Rakyat,” he told reporters.
Chee Keong said that the pamphlets do not have the printing source which is contrary to Section 11 (1) (c) of the Elections Act 1954.
“It is hoped that the people of Permatang Pauh will reject it if they see such pamphlets because it is libel,” he said.
