SHAH ALAM, 13 May: There has been a decline of 76 dengue cases for two consecutive weeks since the 17th week, April 26 to May 2, compared to the previous weeks; a total of 87 cases.
The Deputy Director of the Corporate and Community Development Department, Shahrin Ahmad, said that week 18 recorded a decline by 68 cases compared to 76 cases in the previous week.
“The decline is a result of hard work by the Council and cooperation in gotong-royong activities by the residents of Shah Alam in preventing dengue.
“The Council will continue to intensify dengue prevention activities in areas that have the potential of becoming Aedes breeding grounds,” he said in a press statement.
Shahrin said that MBSA will also take decisive action by issuing compounds against premises that do not take care of Aedes larvae breeding grounds under the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171).
“MBSA produced a total of 245 compounds to premises for the offence of allowing Aedes breeding.
“In addition, inspection activities at 16,676 premises around Shah Alam and fogging at 286,733 premises were carried out,” he said.
Additionally, MBSA also carried out educational activities by distributing 64,905 leaflets about dengue.
“Together with the Ministry of Health, campaigns, lectures, talks and exhibitions on dengue prevention measures with the residents and schools around Shah Alam was also carried out.
“MBSA also set up a Dengue Operations Room to monitor and receive public complaints, as well as reports from the inspections carried out,” he said.
