RAWANG, 15 May: A study on the ‘rent and buy’ scheme is underway to enable tenants facing the issue of housing loans to own the premises they are living in.
The Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the scheme model is already being practiced in some developed countries such as the United Kingdom, in addition to researching the funding of this housing scheme.
“So if they have the ability, we will sell the unit to the tenant at a reasonable price after taking into account the rent previously paid,” he said.
He said this during the M Residence 2 Selangorku Housing Ground-breaking Ceremony and Registration today.
Mohamed Azmin said that the effort can be realised if there is cooperation and support from financial institutions and property developers.
