PETALING, 4 June: Over 5,000 premises involving 11 city centres in the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) will be examined in an operation for two months, starting June 15.
The Deputy Mayor of MBPJ, Johary Anuar, said that the operation will be mobilised to ensure that licensees maintain the cleanliness and beauty of their premises and surrounding areas.
“Inspections will identify water pollution at drains, grease traps that do not work, lack of trash bins, drain covers, drain cleaning activities and businesses at back alleys.
“The six offenses issued under the Trade, Businesses and Licencing By-Laws (MBPJ) 2007, the Food Establishment By-laws (MBPJ) 2007 and the Road, Drain and Building Act 1974,” he said.
He was speaking at a press conference at the MBPJ Headquarters which was also attended by the Assistant Administrative Officer, the MBPJ Licencing Department, Zaleha Ahmad.
The operation involves the Department of Solid Waste Management and Public Cleaning, the Department of Environmental Health, the Department of Enforcement and the Licensing Department.
Johary said that a warning notice will be issued immediately to enable the licensee to rectify the offence within 14 days.
“Licensees are required to return a petition letter with photographic evidence on the restoration done to the Department of Licensing.
“Failure to do so will affect the process of renewing licenses in October,” he said.
