“To those who have not, continue to donate,” reported the status.

The BERSIH 4.0 rally is being held to demand an explanation of 1Malaysia Development Berhad’s (1MDB) involvement in financing the election campaign of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, during the 13th General Election (13GE).

Based on an expose by Wall Street Journal (WSJ), 1MDB was reported to have financed Najib’s campaign indirectly through the purchase of energy assets of the Genting Group at a price that was five times its value in 2012.

WSJ claimed that Genting donated part of the revenue from the sale to Yayasan Rakyat 1Malaysia that Najib is in charge of.

The report explained that the foundation then announced several charity projects that Najib used in the 13GE campaign.

The Bersih 4.0 rally is scheduled to be held simultaneously in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching (Sarawak) and Kota Kinabalu (Sabah).
