The air quality in Selangor went down to a good level after experiencing haze last week due to widespread forest fires in Indonesia.

However, the haze in Kuching, Samarahan and Sri Aman worsened when API readings in the three areas went up this morning compared to last night.

The readings show that Kuching (146), Samarahan (171) and Sri Aman (148) are experiencing unhealthy air quality.

Eight other areas in Sarawak recorded moderate API readings bwteen 51 to 100 while Sandakan, Sabah, recorded a good reading of 46 and three other areas in the state recorded moderate air quality.

Meanwhile, 12 areas in other states recorded moderate API readings.

An API reading between 0 and 50 indicates good air quality, while 51 to 100 (medium), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous).

Members of the public can refer to http://apims.doe.gov.my to find out current API readings.
