MBSA providing free transport to hospitals

SHAH ALAM, 22 Sept: The residents of Shah Alam who are less fortunate now have the opportunity to use the transport services for free to treatment centres and hospitals in the Klang Valley.

The head of the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Corporate Division, Shahrin Ahmad, said that Toyota Hiace bans were also modified to meet the needs of the disabled.

He said that they are equipped with tail lift that can accommodate someone in a wheelchair.

“MBSA is providing this service because the need of providing transport services to the disabled is limited and difficult to find,” he said in a statement.

Elaborating, Shahrin said that the van can only accommodate two passengers and a driver.

“This is because a part of the vehicle is emptied and equipped with safety features such as seat belts to ensure that the wheelchairs do not move while the vehicle is moving,” he said.

This service will operate daily from Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm during office hours.

Services will only be provided to those wanting to seek treatment at the Section 7 Health Clinic, the Section 19 Health Clinic, the Bukit Kuda Health Clinic, the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), the Malaysian National University Hospital (HUKM), the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital and the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

For reservations, the public can contact the Community Development Division, the Community Development Department, at 03-5522 2735 a week earlier.
