Selangor & Federal Government cooperate to promote tourism

SEKINCHAN, 16 June: The state government has welcomed the federal government’ willingness to work together to promote tourism in Selangor in the effort to increase the number of tourists that come to this country.

The Sekinchan Assemblyman, Ng Suee Lim, said that this is a positive development for the tourism industry, especially in Selangor and Malaysia.

He said that the visit by the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, to Sekinchan is seen as a sign of support towards the effort to develop tourism in the area and the Visit Selangor Year 2015.

“It is a common hope to develop the tourism industry in Sekinchan and Selangor. Sekinchan is a rural area that is growing rapidly in this field with the influx of local tourists.

“In collaboration with the ministry, we hope that Sekinchan will be popular internationally,” he told Selangor Kini today.

Meanwhile, Nazri said that the ministry will work together to promote the industry by moving promotion and publicity so that Selangor will become better known among tourists, especially those from abroad.

“We will help, including giving grants, if necessary to develop an area for this purpose.

“Selangor is also important in achieving the target of 29.4 million tourists that come to this country and this is the second most popular state to visit after Pahang,” he said.

Nazri conducted a working visit and officiated the opening of a hotel in Sekinchan, which was also attended by the Assistant to the Selangor Exco for Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Consumer Affairs, Gan Pei Nei.
