SHAH ALAM, 5 Oct: The Meteorology Department of Malaysia (MetMalaysia) will be carrying out testing on the Tsunami Early Warning System (SAATNM) today.
Through Facebook, MetMalaysia informed that the SAATNM will be implemented in stages starting 9.00 am in several states in the north of the peninsula.
It involves Kedah (Kota Kuala Muda, Kuala Kedah) and Penang (BTN Pasir Panjang, Kuala Sungai Burung, Kuala Sungai Pinang).
Residents in the affected areas are advised to not panic by the sound of the siren test.
MetMalaysia will inform if there are any changes.
Previously, MetMalaysia predicted thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds to hit several states in the north of the peninsula this morning.
It involves Perlis, Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Yan, Pendang and Kuala Muda), Penang and Perak (Kerian, Larut,Matang, Selama, Manjung, Perak Tengah and Hilir Perak).
