SHAH ALAM, 26 June: RM224.7 million was distributed by the Selangor Tithe Board (LZS) to right recipients across the state as of May.
The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) Chairman, Datuk Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa, said that RM87,6 million was distributed to the poor and needy from the total recipients.
“LZS always strives to strengthen the aspect of tithe distribution through five core programmes for tithe distribution that supports social, economical, education, human and religious institution development.
“It is clear that many recipients are able to propel themselves out of poverty,” he said.
He said this at the Business Tithe Payment and Iftar Ceremony 2015 at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) yesterday.
Mohamad Adzib said that LZS is actively distributing contributions in conjunction with the Ramadan and Shawwal totaling RM30.8 million to 41,568 poor and needy families in Selangor.
He said that this programme started on June 15 and is expected to ens in the near future.
“The tithe assistance that is distributed is in cash and they will each receive between RM600 to RM1,000 per needy family, according to dependence.
“For poor families, they will receive RM550 to RM1,000 per family, according to dependence,” he said.
