“Donation”: Do not fool the people

SHAH ALAM, 4 AUG: The Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM) lashed out against the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) about the alleged RM2.6 billion influx of funds into the account of Datuk Seri Najib Razak being a donation.

The President, Amidi Abdul Manan, said that ABIM, as one of the organisations representing the Muslims in Malaysia, feel insulted by the statement and regards it as an outright act to fool the people.

“Statements like this betray the people of Malaysia. It is a betrayal of the people who entrusted the task of upholding the integrity and credibility of government institutions.

“The people know that such a massive amount is almost impossible in today’s world. Receiving such large donations in secret is an act which invites major defamation,” he said in a press statement.

MACC on Monday explained that the funds are not attributed to the funds of the national investment company, 1MDB.

He stressed that Najib ought to go on holiday to allay any confusions related to the scandal involving him.

He also added that this statement raises many questions about the Prime Minster’s credibility.
